A few weeks into the new term, it’s been energising to see the momentum building at the City of Nedlands.

The new Council is now sworn in and getting straight to work. At our first Ordinary Council Meeting on 22 April 2026, Jennifer Mathews was elected Deputy Mayor — congratulations, Jenny.

It’s been a pleasure getting to know my fellow Councillors and the Executive team. There’s a strong spirit of collaboration and an impressive depth of experience and talent across the group.

Congratulations to Mayor Leonie Browner, Deputy Mayor Jennifer Mathews, and Councillors Stephen Kobelke, Rachel Kristensen, Glenn Ruscoe, Julian Coleman, Rebecca Coghlan and Charles Pan. I’m really looking forward to working together with the City and our communities as we begin this new chapter.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, the Whadjuk Noongar people and the Aboriginal people of the many traditional lands and language groups of Western Australia. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.  I acknowledge their continuing contribution and connection through land, sea, culture and community.
